Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UPM...if everything goes right, I will be there soon
The Technical University of Madrid (Spanish: Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UPM), is a Spanish university, located in Madrid. It was founded in 1971 as the result of merging the different Technical Schools of Engineering. Actually the Schools are spread all over Madrid, instead of being placed in an unified campus.
In Spain there are two kinds of technical studies: a 3 years Ingeniero Técnico or Arquitecto Técnico and a 5 years (previously 6 years) degree Ingeniero o Arquitecto. These degrees will disappear with the incoming Bologna process. Some of the degrees offered at the UPM are:

- Civil Engineering (Ingeniería de Caminos, Canales y Puertos)
- Electronics, Information Technology and Telecommunications Engineering (Ingeniero de Telecomunicación)
- Geology Engineering (Ingeniero Geólogo)
- Industrial and Electrical Engineering (Ingeniería Industrial)
- Forest Engineering (Ingeniería de Montes)
- Mine Engineering (Ingeniería de Minas, currently merging with Geology Engineering)
- Naval Engineering (Ingeniería Naval)
- Leopoldo Calvo Sotelo, former Prime Minister of Spain
- Pedro Duque, astronaut
- Rafael Benítez, football manager
- Josep Borrell, politician, President of the European Parliament and former minister
- Leonardo Torres y Quevedo, inventor (several engineering fields)
- Rafael Moneo, architect
- Florentino Pérez, "Real Madrid" chairman between 2001 and 2006, and ACS president
- Francisco Álvarez Cascos, former Deputy Prime Minister of Spain
